Fabrizio Romano drops shocking Man United transfer news as Club agree fee for another transfer deal.

Writing on X (formerly known as Twitter), the Italian transfer guru reveals a “permanent transfer” has been sealed for the 19-year-old who is “already in Poland” ahead of the move’s confirmation.

Tweet: “Legia Warsaw have agreed deal to sign Maxi Oyedele from Manchester United on permanent transfer. It will include a sell-on clause as 2004 born midfielder is already in Poland.”

It confirms a report relayed by The Peoples Person on Monday that the Ekstraklasa side were “in talks” with Old Trafford officials over a potential move for Oyedele.

The academy graduate was a part of United’s FA Youth Cup winning side in the 2021/22 season, which featured the likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho – two youngsters who have gone on to firmly establish themselves in the senior side over the last two years.

Oyedele joined Erik ten Hag’s squad for the club’s pre-season tour of America this summer and would have been hoping to cement his place in a similar fashion to his teammates.

However, competition is fierce in the middle of the pitch at United with Toby Collyer emerging as Ten Hag’s preferred choice from the younger cohort on the tour, while the re-emergence of Casemiro, whose prospective move to the Saudi Pro League never materialised, added another competitor to overcome.

Similarly, United are also locked in negotiations over a deal to sign PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte with the expectation a €60 million move could be agreed before the end of the summer window.

Whether the deal is a permanent transfer or a loan with an obligation to buy clause for the Uruguayan international remains to be seen.

As such, Oyedele’s route to the first-team at Old Trafford was limited and it appears both the club and the player have agreed the best step for the next stage of his career lies away from Manchester.

Romano reveals the move to Legia Warsaw will “include a sell-on clause” as has been a consistent inclusion for United when selling young players in recent years.

Legia Warsaw are currently top of Ekstraklasa with ten points from the opening five games of the season and Oyedele will be hoping he can help his new team maintain this position come the end of the year.
