The truth about fake extras in Oscar-winning movie revealed after 10 years.

Ahead of the 10-year anniversary of Whiplash being released, a producer has unpacked the iconic film and admitted that she’s still haunted by some awkward movie trickery.

In the 2014 drama, Miles Teller played budding jazz drummer Andrew Neiman, who is pushed to the brink by his brutally demanding teacher, Terrence Fletcher (JK Simmons), while attending a prestigious music school in New York.

The flick, directed by Babylon’s Damien Chazelle, was widely praised by critics and fans alike, and went on to land five Oscar nominations, with JK taking home the trophy for best supporting actor.

During an appearance on the Hollywood Gold podcast – to celebrate the recent cinema re-release of Whiplash – producer Helen Estabrook lifted the lid on those stunning scenes and confessed that there was a big dose of movie magic going on at the time.
